During the FoRB Foundation’s recent visit to Nigeria, Co-founder Matthew Jones met with Gloria Puldu of the Leah Foundation and saw firsthand the powerful work being done to support young women who have faced unimaginable challenges.
Many of these girls lost their families and, with no support system, were left vulnerable to addiction and prostitution. The Leah Foundation, with the help of devoted volunteers known as Mamas, those pictured above, are helping them reclaim their futures.
These Mamas teach practical skills such as sewing, hairdressing, and beading, giving the girls the tools to generate income and regain their independence. The beautiful dresses worn in these photos were handmade by the young women themselves.
The FoRB Foundation is also working to connect them with educational opportunities, including support for school and BYU–Pathway, to help them move forward in their studies.
