FoRB (Freedom of Religion or Belief) and the Commonwealth

On Wednesday the 6th of March the FoRB foundation and the APPG FoRB met with the Commonwealth Forum of National Human Rights Institutions at parliament in London.  After a brief tour of the palace of Westminster and introductions with Julie Jones Director of the APPG FoRB and Jim Shannon MP chair of the APPG FORB, the group met together to learn more of the aims and objectives of the CFNRHI.  With Human Rights central to the purposes of all organisations involved a discussion took place to explore opportunities to work together.

Mrs Providence Umurungi of Rwanda and Chairperson of the forum described how the commonwealth countries supported one another and the need for human rights to be a priority.  Matthew Jones of the FoRB Foundation expressed their interest in supporting victims of FoRB violations and in working together with commonwealth countries to support those in need.  Michael Boyd Senior Projects Manager shared that FoRB is a topic of great importance to the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office and requires the active attention of the forum.

The organisations will meet together again and develop actions that can be implemented to promote Human Rights and help those so desperately in need of equity, inclusion and protection.
